Orders and backlog: Dell reports approximately $60.9B in AI-server orders and $95B backlog. Broadcom Q3 AI semiconductor revenue is $16.7B, up 221%, with Q4 guidance of $21.7B. CoreWeave backlog is approximately $104B, plus $25B in early-Q3 commitments.

Flows and valuation: SOXX and SMH attracted approximately $301M and $358M last week. Yet SOXX is up about 72.9% year to date and trades at roughly 62 times earnings, creating substantial valuation and crowding risk.

Cross-validation: CapEx, orders/backlog, CoreWeave operations and weekly ETF flows confirm strong demand. AICSI and macro liquidity provide counterevidence: the pressure lies in financing and delivery conversion rather than disappearing orders.

Report framework: below 100bp generally healthy; 100–150bp watch; 150–250bp elevated stress; above 250bp significant stress. Direction and widening speed matter more than isolated levels. CDS alone must not trigger portfolio action.

AICSI conclusion: the warning rises, but does not independently justify reducing exposure. A cross-signal escalation requires further Oracle/CoreWeave spread widening together with hyperscaler CapEx cuts, backlog cancellations or delays, and sustained SOXX/SMH outflows.

03 | Hyperscaler AI CapEx and Guidance

The source report estimates a combined annual spending run rate of approximately $700–750B across the five largest hyperscalers using 2026 or adjacent fiscal years. Direction remains upward. The test shifts to securing power, completing sites, deploying equipment and monetizing capacity on schedule. Fiscal-year and spending definitions differ; the estimate is not a synchronized calendar-year sum.

New confirmations this week

On 9 September, Alphabet’s Google announced at least €13B of Finnish AI and digital-infrastructure investment over two years and a 22-year nuclear power-purchase agreement. Power availability is a prerequisite for compute delivery.

On 8 September, Amazon and Qualcomm announced multi-generation custom AI inference silicon and optical interconnects up to 1.6T. Warrant performance milestones correspond to as much as $60B of product purchases; this is not an unconditional $60B order.

Amazon also launched its first sterling bond issue, initially priced 70–110bp above gilts. Expansion continues to draw on global debt markets while new supply raises funding costs.

The tightest constraints extend beyond GPUs. Grid access, transformers, site construction and high-density cooling determine whether equipment goes live; networking and optics determine cluster efficiency; commercialization determines whether capital completes its return cycle.

Backlog-to-revenue conversion

Record backlog alone is insufficient. Persistent delays at any of seven conversion nodes can leave strong orders coexisting with weak cash flow. The most exposed links currently are site delivery, grid connection and funding costs, rather than sudden customer cancellations.

The latest quarter remains Q2, released on 11 August 2026. This week brings credit-market and equity repricing of that quarter, not a new quarterly earnings release.

Operations confirm strong demand while credit reveals capital-structure risk. Strong demand and attractive equity or creditor returns are distinct tests. CoreWeave is both a demand thermometer and a gauge of financing tail risk.

Does CoreWeave CDS above 800bp mean investors should immediately sell AI equities?

No. A leveraged neocloud is not a proxy for cash-rich Microsoft, Alphabet or Amazon. Systemic concern requires credit contagion and concurrent deterioration in CapEx, backlog and ETF flows.

What is the largest infrastructure bottleneck?

Corporate CDS is an over-the-counter market with infrequent trading. Public sources do not provide complete, synchronized histories for all six issuers. These observations use Reuters reporting, relayed LSEG/S&P/ICE data and recent public quotes available through 9 September. Neocloud and AI data-center financing conditions

CoreWeave five-year CDS returned above 800bp on 3 September, at least approximately 128bp wider than the mid-August low around 671.75bp, returning to significant stress.

CoreWeave Q2 interest expense was $640M and net loss $626M. Adjusted EBITDA of $1.510B does not remove its capital intensity or refinancing dependence.

CoreWeave completed a $2.6B DDTL 5.5 loan in August and has raised over $30B of debt and equity this year. Funding remains accessible, but pricing, collateral, cash-lockbox arrangements and terms are more demanding.

Amazon receives warrants for up to 25 million Qualcomm shares. Purchase milestones can correspond to approximately $60B, linking long-term commercial incentives without guaranteeing those purchases.

The evidence confirms accelerating hyperscaler custom silicon and the emergence of connectivity/optics as core bottlenecks.
